Rest In Peace, Mr. D’Amico.
I just read that Jerry D’Amico passed away the other day. That’s depressing. For those of you who don’t know, Jerry ran a shop on Pine Avenue here in Niagara Falls called D’Amico Music for the last 35 years. I’ve been going to that shop religiously since I first started playing music. I used to go there with Dan when we first decided to start up a band, way before thinksobrain ever came along. Any time I needed anything, I went to Jerry first, because he always had the best prices, offered the best advice, and if he didn’t have something, he’d go out of his way to try and get it for you. I’m almost speechless here, and for those of you who’ve been to the live shows, you know that’s a rarity. I’m in shock.
I’ve been a patron at D’Amico music for thirteen years. I never really made a major purchase there, just essentials - picks, tuners, guitar straps, strings and such - but every time I set foot in that store, Jerry made me feel right at home. Thank you for the hospitality, Mr. D’Amico. You will be greatly missed.
