Sometime in the mid 1980's at Hyde Park Elementary School in Niagara Falls, New York, two kids named Joe and Dan met each other. Little did they realize at the time that they'd one day be roommates, and then, bandmates.
For years, Joe and Dan stayed friends and talked about starting a band one day. When circumstances led to both needing a roommate and a place to live, the wheels were set in motion. Ads were put up on MySpace and various Western New York music websites looking for a guitarist and drummer to join the longtime friends in starting a new band. Soon those ads were answered by a drummer, Rob Bruce, and a guitar player, Jeff Levine, and in early 2006, thinksobrain was born.
Jeff's time with thinksobrain didn't last long before he decided he'd rather have a career as a stand-up comic, but Lucifer Raine stepped in and filled the vacant slot. The lineup of ThinkSoJoE on vocals, Lucifer Raine on guitar, Dan Godding on bass, and Rob Bruce on drums was the one that took the stage on July 29, 2006 as the band played their first show, opening for The Fracture at Buffalo's Showplace Theater.
At the end of 2006, a falling out between Joe and Dan led to Dan's departure from the band. Former Heather Mere bassist Thom Kurzdorfer filled in during the transition period. On February 9, 2007, Jorge joined the band on stage for the first time.
thinksobrain hit the studio and recorded two songs, "Greater Than Expected" and "King of Chaos" before Rob left the band. Lucifer's former Bloody Mary bandmate Anthony took over drumming duties, and the band recorded "Burning The Bush," continuing to perform throughout Western New York for the next year.
Lucifer and Anthony both left the band in 2008 to spend more time with their respective families. ThinkSoJoE and Jorge decided to continue on with thinksobrain, announcing Dave Tickett as the band's new guitarist on January 31, 2010 and Jinx as the band's new drummer on March 21, 2010. The new lineup returned to the stage on May 14, 2010, nearly two years to the day of the band's previous gig.
